Yes. Sometimes a person can no longer perform the job of being a diligent and effective trustee. This could be due to relocation, work or family priorities, age, illness or death. Conflict with the beneficiaries or other trustees may have arisen – or, it might be that a trustee simply no longer wants to perform the duties.
Often the will or trust deed contains powers to allow a change of trustees. Trust law also allows for changes of trustee when required. If necessary, the Court can also appoint new trustees. If a trust needs to carry on as intended State Trustees may accept appointment as the new trustee
