Empowering Positive Ageing: State Trustees Australia Foundation grants $750k
The State Trustees Australia Foundation (the Foundation) recently awarded grants totalling $750k to La Trobe University’s John Richards Centre for Rural Ageing Research and Live Life Get Active as part of the Ageing Well FY23-25 Grant Round.
The Ageing Well FY23-25 Grant Round focused on addressing systemic issues reducing the quality of life for older Victorians.
State Trustees’ CEO, John Velegrinis, said “Through this year’s Ageing Well FY23 Grant Round, we will support two organisations that are making a difference in the lives of our older population. La Trobe University’s John Richards Centre for Rural Ageing Research and Live Life Get Active are examples of how impactful grants can translate into meaningful actions. Their work showcases the incredible power of collective efforts by ensuring older Victorians thrive with vitality and respect.”
“We are also grateful to those who choose to make charitable giving part of their legacy. Through their generosity, the Foundation continues to support charities making a difference in the lives of Victorians.”
La Trobe University’s John Richards Centre for Rural Ageing Research is on a mission to empower older Australians with the knowledge and confidence to maintain and improve their health and wellbeing. Their work aims to equip older individuals with interactive, evidence-based community resources and programs that directly support the application of age-friendly health care guidelines.
Another of the grant’s recipients is Live Life Get Active, an organisation devoted to promoting positive ageing by providing the skills and knowledge to support independence. The program encourages physical activity, healthy eating, and tackling other issues that can impact overall wellness. Their multifaceted approach includes outdoor and indoor activity programs designed to enhance movement, cognitive skills, and social connections. Additionally, a series of online workshops will cover topics such as cognitive, mental, physical, nutritional, and social health.
